The powerful Technical and Allied Workers Union (TAWU) of Senator Chester Humphrey is studying the contents of a letter sent to some workers of the state-controlled National Water & Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) by its Chairman, Michael Pierre.

Informed sources told the GRENADA TODAY that TAWU officials are in the process of helping the workers draft a letter to respond to 'the threats' made to the NAWASA employees by Pierre who is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

In December, the workers stopped work to protest against the management of the public utility by Acting Manager Allen Mc Guire, a political activist of the ruling New National Party (NNP) government.

Mc Guire has since reportedly submitted his resignation from the authority. In his letter, Pierre warned the workers that if they resort to such behaviour in future this would result "in disciplinary action being taken against you".

The workers are said to be thinking of sending copies of their response to the new Acting Manager Michael Creft and President of the Public Workers Union (PWU), Madonna Harford. See letter for the full content of Pierre's communication to the NAWASA workers:
