Members of the Technical and Allied Workers' Union employed by Caribbean Agro Industries Ltd. within the Administrative Bargaining Unit startedwearing red protest Tuesday in response to the Company's refusal to settle the long outstanding industrial contract negotiations, Proposals for this Contract were submitted on June 22, 2001. The negotiation started since July 2001 and became deadlock on a number of the items.

The matter was referred to the Labour Commissioner and then referred to the past Minister of Labour Senator Lawrence who made several recommendation some of which were accepted and some rejected by both the Company and Union.

In an effort to settle the outstanding matters, the Union met with the local management group who after consultation with Head Office was unable to have the following matter resolved.

Rates of Pay from August 2000- October 2004
Annual Paid Vacation Leave
Redundancy, Retrenchment and Severance Pay Compensation
Severance Compensation
Complete Agreement

In a statement from the Union, the Union indicates that if the Company fails to have the matter resolved within a few days Caribbean Agro may be hit by more intense industrial problems.
