An appeal has been made to Grenadians and the business community in particular to come together and reach out to fifteen year old Lyntona Hutchinson who has been diagnosed with the deadly Leukemia disease.

The appeal was made by Yvonne Duncan, the Administrative and Human Resources Manager of Grenada CableVision Limited (GCL) when she presented the Hutchinson family with a monetary contribution of EC$1000.00 on Monday.

Duncan in making the presentation said that the company heard of Lyntona's medical condition and felt if was necessary to assist her.
She stated that in the past, CableVision has assisted a number of persons with their medical cases and it is something that it will continue to do.

Duncan appealed to the people of Grenada to assist and prayer for Lyntona so that when she undergo medical treatment it will be successful. Lyntona, a student of the Happy Hill Secondary School (HHSS), in St. George's has represented Grenada at the national and international level in the area of Table Tennis.

In accepting the contribution, the child's mother, Rosalyn Need thanked the company for coming to their assistance. Need said that her family is very grateful to the Cablevision family for understanding their needs, adding that the money will go a long way in the treatment of the child.

The mother used the opportunity to clear up some issues including a change in plan to send Lyntona outside of the region for medical attention. She said that at first they were advised by local doctors that Lyntona should seek medical attention in the United States or London within the shortest possible time.

However, due to financial constraints she was unable to take the child to the Unites States or London and the family took the decision to try Barbados. According to Need, they immediately started to raise funds and were about to make the trip when they were told by the authorities in Barbados that they will not be able to accommodate her daughter due to the unavailability of space.

"We were very disappointed to learn that Lyntona will not be able to go to Barbados. We had her bags packed and an open ticket. All we needed to do was to raise the money and when we did that they couldn't take her in", she said.

She pointed out that the family is back to square one and now have no choice but to try U.S. or London. Need later told GRENADA TODAY that they are hoping and praying that they can raise the required funds to take Lyntona overseas for the treatment.
She said that family members are currently engaged in several fund raising drives which they hope will be successful.
