The Tivoli Drummers is currently in Toronto on their first trip to Canada to perform in Muhtadi's International Drum Festival. The group left the Island on Saturday and was expected to perform on the following day at Queen's Park, Toronto.

The Tivoli Drummers were scheduled to leave on Friday but reportedly had problems getting their visas from Trinidad on time. The local drum group was invited to Canada to participate in the Drum Festival by Muhtadi himself who visited the island to take part in the Grenada Drum Festival in Seamoon from May 7-9.

This trip was organised as a cultural exchange between Grenada and Canada. Muhtadi had praised the level of organisation at the Grenada Drum Festival and pledged to implement some of the features into his own Drum Festival.

The Tivoli Drummers was founded by Krumah Nelson in 1995 and since then has been one of the top performing Groups in Grenada.
A release from the group said that the trip to Canada is of particular interest to Krumah who lived and study in Canada for six years.

He was the founder in 1990 of another group in Toronto namely "Drum Theatre Togetherness" which would partly host the Tivoli Drummers.
"This sister Group in Toronto is in the capable hands of Krumah brother, Renwick Herry. The Tivoli Drummers and Drum Theatre Togetherness would be doing a full length performance at the Driftwood Community Centre on June 13", the release said.

The only other group from the Caribbean that would be present at the Muhtadi's International Drum Festival would be Culture Shop from Tobago. Culture Shop, a regular attendee at the Grenada Drum Festival, was also invited to the Canada festival by Muhtadi himself.
The Tivoli Drummers were also scheduled to perform at a Grenada Association function on Saturday evening in Scarborough.
