Cable & Wireless Grenada has introduced an EC $40 Alleyne Francique mobile phone card aimed at assisting the Grenada team's preparation and travel to the Olympic games in Athens this summer.

According to Richard Simon, Manager, Corporate Communications, five dollars from every card sold will be donated to the team as they prepare for the World games in Greece.

"We are delighted with this venture because it gives us an opportunity to work with our customers and the public in general to help with the preparations one of our brightest prospects for a medal at the games and the team," said Richard Simon Corporate Communications Manager.

The Card was unveiled at last weekend's Whitsuntide games and is being taken up by customers and the public for various reasons, including that of a collectors item.

"We are pleased that Cable & Wireless took this step as we prepare for the Olympics because its provides us an opportunity to be better prepared," said the President of the Grenada Olympic Committee, Royston La Haye.

In addition to monies raised from the sale of the card, Cable & Wireless has also provided funding for the team through a request of the GOC as well as providing mobile phone service for the delegation traveling to Athens.

"Its always important for me to keep in touch with home and I am happy that Cable & Wireless once again is providing that assistance that will help me and the team to stay in touch with our friends and family while we are so far away from home," said Alleyne Francique, the World Indoor 400 meters champion.

Cable & Wireless wishes the Grenada team every success in their attempt to place Grenada on the winners rostrum in Athens.
