Roman Catholic Priest Fr. Mark Haynes has called on Christians to allow the Spirit of Pentecost to take route in their lives so that they will become better people in the future.

He told hundreds of Catholics at last Sunday's Assembly at the Seamoon Cultural Center in St. Andrew's that, there is a need for more tolerance among people in the world today.

The local Clergyman said that there are some people who go to the extreme in the name of religion. Fr. Mark addressed the gathering on the theme "What is the Spirit is Saying to the Church now? Wake up revive what little you have left it is dying fast".

He noted that the Spirit is not only speaking to the Church in Grenada today but to all strata of society. According to the local Clergyman, the message it has for the politicians is for them to "use your position of power to help and unite the country".

"Seek not your own selfish interest and stop the bickering and fighting and help the people who put you there", he remarked. Fr. Mark, the current Administrator for the Cathedral in St. George's, noted that politicians in Grenada "heads are too hard" saying that they are not doing enough in terms of listening.

He reminded them of their responsibility, noting that they are put in that position to serve God's people and they must do just that. The Clergyman also had some word of advice for parents referring to some of them as being too delinquent.

"Love and care for your children, show them good example, guide them in the way of Christ, discipline them out of love, not with rage, let them know that certain behaviour is not acceptable", Fr. Mark said.

He used the Homily to call on employers not to exploit their workers for profit and also appealed to employees to give an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.

The Roman Catholic Priest implored doctors and nurses to treat their patients with dignity and respect inspite of their outward appearances. The clergyman said he believes that there are too many religion and too few churches in the country.

He told the gathering that the Church will not change if the people do not since the Church is a representation of its members. According to Fr. Mark, Catholics must take consolation if they find their Church resembles "a community of dry bones".

He urged them to "breathe new life in the faith" by becoming more involved in its activities. The local religious figure stressed that the only way for there to be a new world is if there are new people. Fr. Mark also said that for there to be new people, there has to be a new Spirit.
