Scout Leader and Teacher of the St. David's Secondary School, Donnell Joel Thomas, was due to leave Grenada on Wednesday to attend the 12th World Scoot Moot in the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan which runs from July 30 to August 10th.

Resident ROC Ambassador Allan Lii-shang Jiang met with Thomas prior to his departure and was extremely happy about his participation in the event.

Ambassador Jiang was an executive member of the scout movement in Taiwan twenty years ago.

He has also contributed to the scout movement in Grenada and has donated 1000 badges to the Grenada Scout Association last year.

Thomas is due to leave Taiwan on August 11 and is expected to share his experience with his fellow scout members when he returns to Grenada.

It is first time that the Republic of China has invited a member of the Scout Movement from Grenada to attend the event which will be held under the theme "Scouting-unlimited challenges".

Thomas is one of the two representatives from the Caribbean region attending the World Scout Moot. The other Caribbean participant comes from St. Vincent. Over fifty- three countries will be represented from around the World.

The event provides an opportunity for scout leaders to meet together with the objective of improving their international understanding as citizens of the world.

The programme of activities for the World Scout Moot is categorized in several modules including natural discovery, cultural exploration, community involvement, global development village among others.
