Since the launch of Carnival in St. John's last month, a number of local band leaders have been preparing for the big event and several bands have already been launched. Speaking to Grenada Today on Tuesday, President of SJSCO, Benny Langaigne said that things are "bright and beautiful" for the events planned for the carnival. According to Langaigne, most things are already in place for the celebration and that the season promises to be very exciting. He said that patrons can expect attractions such as pageant, parade of the bands, the Miss St. John's Queen competition, J'ouvert Monday mas, Monday Night Mas and ole mas among others. The SJSCO President disclosed that the last lap j'ouvert which was started last year has shown tremendous signs of growth and will be back again this year. "I recalled last year the last lap Tuesday jouvert, attracted a large amount of people from all over Grenada and this year promises to be no different due to the publicity it has gotten", he added. Langaigne called on the General Public especially the visitors to the island to visit Gouyave and become a part of the fun and frolic of their carnival. He also said that one of the things that has worked well for the organisation and the promotion of carnival in St. John's is the "Rumble on the Road", carnival show which was promoted by Grenada Cablevision, Community Channel-6 (CC6). Langaigne said that CC6 has already announced that its crew will be returning to Gouyave on the Tuesday Morning to broadcast live the last lap jouvert. |
