A few months ago, he was on the executive of the People's Labour Movement (PLM) of Dr. Francis Alexis. Now Shurland Bullen has joined ranks with the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) which is now the official opposition in parliament. Political analysts had viewed Bullen's resignation from the PLM late last year as a move intended to pave the way for his entry into the Congress party which controls seven of the eight seats in the House of Representatives. A party release said that Bullen landed the post of Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the new executive committee that will run the affairs of the St. Andrew's South East constituency branch of the Congress party. The seat was won for the NDC in the November 27 general election by former police officer, Kenrick Fullerton who defeated Cuthbert Mc Queen, the incumbent Minister of Social Services of the ruling New National Party (NNP) government. Bullen said that the committee will soon be in the process of planning a number of activities aimed at contributing to the development of the various communities in the constituency.
He also said that the new committee that is in place will now be better
able to assist Fullerton to address the concerns of constituents as
the committee has representation from most of the polling divisions
in the area. The other members of the executive are Ross Calliste - Deputy Chairman, Ass. Secretary Nasha Belfon, Pauline Andrew as Ass. Treasurer. The floor members are Isaiah Baptiste, Rupert Peters and Kenneth Braveboy. |
