Barrister-at-law, Peter David is making moves to try and consolidate his position in the Town of St. George constituency in the November 27 general election.

David captured the seat from the incumbent, Brenda Hood, the current Minister of tourism & Civil Aviation of the ruling New National Party (NNP).

A release from the NDC said that former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Pamela Steele was elected on Monday as the interim chairperson of the Constituency Council for the Town of St George for the Congress party.

The retired civil servant is believed to have played a key role for the NDC in the past year by assisting with the review of names on the Voter's list.

The Council which is the co-ordinating body for the three zones of the Constituency, will spearhead and coordinate activities of the North Zone (River Road and Darbeau); the Central Zone (the Town); and the South Zone (the Carenage, Coopers' Hill, Archibald Avenue and surrounding areas).

It was also announced that international referee David "Bumpy" Griffith is the new Chairman of the Management Council of the North Zone. Griffith was nominated at the Council's meeting held last week. The other zones will meet later this week to elect their management committees.

At Monday's Constituency Council Meeting, a four-week plan was finalised. Among activities planned are the River Road Clean-up on January 25 and beautification on January 31.

There will also be a health fair on the Carenage Plaza on January 31; the Cooper's Hill Clean-up on February 1; a lunch for the Elderly on February 8 and a cultural evening also on February 8.
