A government statement said that Sen. Pierre had the opportunity to address a village meeting in which she encouraged adults to become more involved in the process of youth development. She highlighted the need for adults and the entire community to be more supportive of young people, who often suffer from a lack of guidance and support. Sen. Pierre also held a special consultation with young people in Carriacou, during which a number of issues they will like to see addressed by Government. She gave the assurance that a number of new programmes and projects geared towards youth development will be implemented in Carriacou and Petit Martinique this year. She called on the people of Carriacou and Petit Martinique to play a more active role in the development of their communities and to continue making their contributions to national development. Sen. Pierre also highlighted the need for the islands to preserve their rich culture and heritage through youth participation. |
