It will be the first such gathering of the party following its resurgence in the November 27, 2003 general election when it won seven of the fifteen seats. Political Leader Tillman Thomas (St. Patrick East) Alleyne Walker (St. Andrew North-west), Kenrick Fullerton (St. Andrew South-east), Peter David (Town of St. George), Nazim Burke (St. George North-east), Glynis Roberts (South St. George) and Denis Lett (St. David's) are now the party flag bearers in parliament. The congress
has reportedly invited an Opposition Senator from Antigua & Barbuda
to deliver the feature address at the convention. The NDC complained a few years ago that the NNP leadership put pressure on Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony of St. Lucia to prevent one of his deputies from coming to Grenada to address a gathering of the congress party. One of the other highlights of the convention will be the election of officers in which no major changes are expected. Thomas will most likely be returned unopposed to the post of party chief. |
