An international reggae/soca concert featuring some of the legendary reggae singers will form part of Grenada's 30th anniversary celebration of independence.

The concert will feature the likes of the "Kings of Culture - the Mighty Diamonds" from Jamaica, the "Queen of lovers rock", Sylvia Taylor also from Jamaica, and the People's man Lloyd Brown from the United Kingdom.

Some of the other top performers included renowned all-female band, "Akabu", as well as Grenada's number one jam-band, Rhydum Mix and Soca monarch, Wilt "Tallpree" Cambridge among others.

One of the promoters of the show, Hillbrand James, the leader of Rhydum Mix band from Birch Grove said that the concert will start at 9:30 p.m on Friday night at the Trade Center at Grand Anse, St. George's.

James pointed out that the show is being put on for Grenadians since its the island's 30th anniversary of independence, a remarkable achievement for the country and people of Grenada. He stated that the event will ring-in the country's Pearl celebration and he expects to see many patriotic Grenadians tunring out for the event wearing their national colors or something that is representative of Grenada.

One of the other promoters of the show is Mellow Mix Central, an international production company that showcases Grenada's talent in the United Kingdom.

According to James, this outfit is responsible for managing and marketing Rhydum Mix's music in the UK and often promote the work and artistic talent of other Grenadian artistes.

Commenting on the entertainment cast, James said that many Grenadians who are lovers of reggae music will recall some of the great hits sung by the,"Mighty Diamonds" such as, "Roof Over My Head", "Africa", "Pass the Duchy", and "Weeping & Moaning" to name a few.

He added that patrons can also look forward to an exciting performance from Sylvia Taylor who is known for her beautiful voice and quality songs such as "What about the children", "Spell", "Happy Home"and"Mother nature" among others.

The concert will be opened with a performance from Rhydum Mix and Tallpree along with other local artistes.
