NDC promises to return honesty and integrity in public life

Political Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Tillman Thomas says the time has come for restoring honesty and integrity in public life.

He noted that this choice is a matter of historical necessity after eight years of lies, deceit, dishonesty and  unscrupulous government. Thomas, a Barrister at Law by profession made the comment while addressing hundreds of party supporters at the Annual Convention of the NDC held at the River Sallee Government School last Sunday.

Party Boss Tillman ThomasOpposition parties in the country have constantly accused the ruling New National Party  (NNP) administration of mismanagement in public office. The NDC boss noted that the rebirth of his party has come about because Grenadians have said they deserve a greater vision for this nation.

"A vision that goes beyond concrete structures,  and addresses the moral decay vision that emphasises the strengthening of our social structures vision that understands the need for greater investment in our people, in their education and their health", Thomas noted. He disclosed that in the last two years, the party had increased its registration of new members and have started more organised and functioning cells than any other political party in the country.

"For we believe that only the party with the richest democratic traditions can effectively govern our modern-day democracy", the party leader noted. The Barrister at Law disclosed that the rebirth of the party has come about as a result of collective hard work, and because Grenada deserves better governance with honesty and integrity.

"No amount of concrete structures can plaster the shame, which we as a nation have had to endure in the last eight years", Thomas indicated. "No amount of impressive hundred dollar bills, whether they come in t-shirts or by whatever means, can buy away our collective pain", he stated. Thomas stressed that the NDC offers politics of the soul where morality and integrity matters.

"Ours is the politics of care and commitment not of schemes and scandals",  he stressed. According to the party’s political leader, the very heart of the message of the NDC is restoration. "Restoring our values and practices, restoring our pride, restoring the foundations of a caring and viable society", he concluded.
