HEAD CHOPPED OFF IN BEAULIEU

Police have been called in to probe the brutal murder of an aged woman early Thursday morning in Beaulieu, St. George’s. Dead is 73-year old Shiela James of Moliniere, St. George’s. She was killed by her own grandson Marlon Bedeau who allegedly raped and also chopped off her head with a cutlass.

The murder suspect is believed to be mentally disturbed. Apart from cutting off the head, a police official said that Bedeau “confessed” to drinking the blood of his grand-mother and also cutting off another sensitive part of her body.  The deceased is a regular visitor to the home of her grandson since his mother who also lives there is said to be sick and in need of regular help.

A team of investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) was called in just after 8.00 a.m. following a telephone call made to the lawmen about the incident. A resident of the area told this newspaper that she was alerted to the killing by the whaling sounds of a male occupant of the house who ran out from the home to escape the attacker. She said that she rushed from her home and saw the alleged killer with the head of the old lady in his hand.

“He was bawling out and asking for help. I was scared so I ran to my neighbour and told her to call the police”, she remarked.  Informed sources told this newspaper that the aged lady was killed inside the house and that the deranged man deposited her head outside the building.  The berserk man had to be shot by the police in order to restrain and capture him.

Bedeau was taken to the St. George’s General Hospital for treatment and later whisked away by hospital nursing staff and two police escorts to a specially guarded room in the newly constructed hospital building.
