Green Shoot program a success

Eighteen Cable & Wireless staff from the Eastern Caribbean graduated at an elegant ceremony held at the Fort Yung Hotel on Thursday July 12 after a two year talent development program ended in Dominica.

The Cable & Wireless “Green Shoot” Program developed human resource talent from St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Antigua, Grenada and Dominica and was set up on the foundation that management of talent is a major part of the Cable & Wireless business strategy and integral to its human resource development. Three members from each island attended the two year program which covered a number of modules to include self, relationship, business, customer, performance, change and innovation management. The two year program sought to identify, develop, motivate and retain a range of leadership and specialist talent for development towards senior management roles within the Organization and to deploy these individuals to key positions within the Eastern Caribbean.

The initiative was the brainchild of former Executive Vice President for the Eastern Caribbean – Paul Aspin while Chief Executive of Grenada Ian Blanchard was the Program Sponsor supported by the Human Resource and East Leadership Teams.

Presenting the certificates and representing the Executive Vice President for the Eastern Caribbean, Daryl Jackson [Chief Operating Office – Eastern Caribbean] congratulated the graduates and urged them to continue their good and promising work and to always strive for the highest levels of attainment. This is just the beginning he said, the challenges lay ahead. Each graduate was congratulated by the Chief Executives of the Eastern Caribbean Business Units who, together with the Human Resource Vice Presidents were in attendance.

The feature address was delivered by Mr. Gregory DeGannes, General Manager of the National Bank of Dominica while bMobile artist Calypso King, D Hunter and the Sixth Form Sisserou Singers provide a touch of Dominica’s musical talent. Grenada ’s representatives on the Green Shoots program were Ian Blanchard, Natasha Joseph and Jude Hector.
