Excitement is growing among the Eighteen (18) models selected to move into the second phase of the bMobile/Abstract model search.
The 10 girls and 8 guys who were selected after the preliminary event held at the Karma night Club on Saturday 12 th April are now into phase two of the model search, the reality television series which will be carried exclusively by GBN. Last weekend the excitement among the models was obvious as the TV series got underway at the Grenadian by Rex Resorts, which will be the home of the series for the next 5 weeks. For some of the persons chosen this is a first time experience as they walked off the street and into what can be a rewarding future in modeling. Abstract magazine CEO, Anthony Gomez is heading the Abstract Team. He said “We are very excited to be working the young people of Grenada. We believe we have 18 strong candidates and the competition will be tough over the next five (5) weeks. We encourage Grenadians to tune in each week as a reality television event like this has never been done in Grenada before and the contestants will need their support.”

According to Sheldon Keens-Douglas Marketing Communications Manager, Cable & Wireless “whilst only one (1) male and one (1) female model will be selected to be the Future Faces of Abstract. Everyone would have won by the end of the exercise given the training they would be exposed to. The exposure the winners will receive in one of the Caribbean’s premier fashion magazines, Abstract, will definitely help launch their careers in the fashion industry”
Through the reality television series the18 contestants will be narrowed down to eight (8) finalists. Members of the public will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite model through the texting component, made possible by bMobile. There is also a unique feature called “saved by Texting”, where eliminated contestants will have the opportunity to be voted back on the show by their fans and supporters through texting to the bmobile short code FAME.
The eight (8) finalists will appear in a final runway extravaganza to be held at the Karma Nightclub on May 21, 2008. At this event, one (1) male and one (1) female will be selected as the Faces of the Future. The show will feature selected designers from Grenada and Trinidad and will have model performances by the Abstract models. The winners will receive over $10,000 US in cash and prizes including a ten-page fashion editorial in Abstract magazine.
