An enthusiastic crowd gathered on Sunday, October 29 at the Pacific
Cinematheque Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia to attend the
premiere screening of the documentary film, Grenada: The Maroon Spirit.
The documentary was filmed on the island of Grenada in November 2004
and shows the devastating impact of Hurricane Ivan and the incredible
effort the Grenadian people made to rebuild their country.
The Grenada Cultural Association of BC served up Caribbean patties and
sugar cake amongst other goodies to the eager crowd. Information on
vacationing in Grenada was available and the flag of Grenada flew in
the lobby. A lively question and answer session followed the film as
people were keen to learn more about Grenada.
The event was organized by the Pumpkinhead Production Company, producer
of the film and supported by the Grenada Cultural Association of
British Columbia. The screening was seeking to increase the public's
awareness of the history and culture of Grenada and the money raised
will go for projects in Grenada.
Pumpkinhead Production Company is donating 20% of gross sales to the
Grenada Cultural Association of BC for projects in Grenada.
