Meet Ronnie Pivotte one of Grenada's top steel pan players. Born and raised in the village of Marian, St. George's Grenada. Ronnie's love of the steel drum led him to teach himself to play the steel drum by the age of eleven. The older members of the White Horse Crescendos a Marian steel band, impressed by the tenacity of the little youth, asked him to become a member of the band. After playing with this band for a few years, Ronnie graduated to playing for the then top band of Grenada's the Pepsi South Stars. During the 1980's Mr. Pivotte became the leader of the Pepsi South Stars, maintaining the band's position as one of the number one steel band contenders in the island. Facing adulthood and the need to earn a living, Ronnie along with three friends, former the steel band, Island Magic. The band played for the major hotels, and for social events. It's sweet caribbean melody greeted the cruise ships as they entered the Spice Island, and was the last thing they heard when they departed. During this time Ronnie traveled back and forth to the island of Trinidad fine tuning his beloved craft. By 1988 following the call of the pan, Ronnie left home to play in the cruise ship industry. Today he works for Royal Caribbean International, as the band leader of a four member caribbean band, Heat Wave bringing the sounds of the islands to the world. Ronnie also records and produce music at RONNIE PIVOTTE STUDIO. His first venture into gospel music production and recording can be heard on the album RUN TO FINISH by Ms, Ganel Worme.
