LA KEISHA GRENADE

On September 7th 1989 at King's County, Hospital, Brooklyn a beautiful pearl was born to proud Grenadian mother Cecily Grenade of Corinth St. David's and her husband Fred Meyrow. They named her La Keisha, Carleen Whitney Grenade. Her mother has always been a tremendous influence in her upbringing and her education. She is her mother's pride and joy. A brilliant student with a grade point average, La Keisha has received numerous certificates of accomplishments; and scholastic awards including certificate of participation as member of her school chorus, photography club, student council, who's who among National High School Students and Miss Teen USA pageant, to name a few.

La Keisha recently graduated from St Edmund Prep High School and is presently attending Plattsburg State University of New York where she is majoring in Speech Pathology. She believes that Plattsburg offers quality educational opportunities for students, and that what she wants.

In 2006 Keisha participated in the summer program at New York University, and this year she is volunteering at the Law Finn of Lawarowitz & Manganillo LLP as a Secretary.

When La Keisha is not a school, she is either taking her five year old sister La Kaya to the mall where they enjoy pizza and ice cream or she is at home creating and writing poems. She knows about dedication and commitment and her hard work and energy earned her the title of Ms Energetic at her school. She is a student of unique sensitivity and taste, brave pure and pretty.

She loves the Arts -she believes that theater, music and dance play critical roles in the development of adolescents by allowing young people as herself to become leaders in whatever they do. She notes that one of the reasons for entering is the opportunity to foster and celebrate diversity, multiculturalism and equity.

At age three, La Keisha was selected by the Grenada Informer Newspaper as the Most Adorable Baby of the week from among many other babies. She has always been a child genius, especially with computers. She is also an animal lover and adores her Snow Ball (her cat). She does the best she can to protect all strays she comes in contact with. She rescued Snow Ball from a shelter seven years ago.

La Keisha believes that the pageant is going to be the most exciting event of the season and in her life and she is grateful to the Grenadian American Ex-Teachers Association Inc. the promoters, for staging such a once in a lifetime opportunity where young women like herself can showcase their talents and love for their country.

Her Philosophy: 'Never mistake Knowledge for Education; one teaches you how to live, the other teaches you how to make a living."
