On a cool and breezy day in January, the 21st day to be exact, in the year 1987, Anne Marie Brathwaite welcomed a healthy beautiful baby girl into the world - she named her Anika Michelle Ann Carter. At the tender age of three, she and her mother migrated to the United States with hopes of sharing in the American dream and securing a brighter and better education for her daughter.

Anika attended Science Skills Center High School, where she graduated with honors. She also participated in the Gateway Program which was a program for students with a passion for the Sciences. Her extra curricular activities included a three-year genetic program at the National Museum of History and a two-year program entitled Bridge to Medicine. She also participated in several other programs and numerous college courses to prepare her for college.

Anika currently attends Stony Brook University where she is majoring in Biology with a minor in Business Administration and hopes that one day to become a Pediatrician with her own practice right 4ere in Brooklyn. By competing in this Pageant, Anika hopes to make new friends, meet and greet new people, develop her self confidence, improve her self-esteem and learn more about her Grenadian Culture She notes that she hopes to grow as a person and to be able to inspire others to dream so that they would not settle for the average but try reaching for the stars. Anika finds time for families and friends, that in need, and in her spare time volunteers at Soup Kitchens and with the Red Cross. She has a very strong spiritual upbringing and is a member of the Calvary and St Cyprian’s Choir for over five years.
