From the beautiful Isle of Spice, Grenada where everything is nice comes Contestant #7 Akeela Abdul Jabbar. She was born on October l0th 1986 to hardworking parents Yaro and Sandra. At a very early age, Akeela showed signs of a very brilliant individual. At age three she could have read many syllable words while in Kindergarten. She received her elementary education at Winlyn’s Private school located in the parish of St. George, the capital of Grenada.

Upon graduating from elementary school, Akeela attended the Anglican High School –an all girls' institution, where she earned several credits that enabled her to be accepted into the prestigious T. A. Marryshow Community College. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management and Economics.

Endowed with a sound educational background from the Spice Isle, Akeela migrated to the United States to join her parents and to further her educational opportunities. She is now attending Berkeley College, with Accounting as her major. Upon completion of her two-year program, Akeela aims at entering Pace University to complete her business skills leading to CPA.

Akeela is very active in the community and has volunteered at several agencies and corporations including the United Nations, Jamaica Hospital, HSM Volunteer program. During her educational career she was awarded by the Sigma Berta Delta for high accomplishments. She notes that these experiences in her life have made her strong and enable her to face challenges which make her ready to participate in the Ms Grenada- USA Pageant.

She is very adventurous- She enjoys Scubber Diving, Bungy Jumping, Snow Boarding, Dancing and meeting celebrities.
