The programs
we have instituted and/or in the process of instituting at the
Multipurpose Center are meant to heal wounds and restore hope
to all of our people; develop and nourish our kids in terms of
their character and intellect; provide opportunities and avenues
for advancement in the lives of our teenagers; and console our
elders. This is what our organization is all about.
The programmes
are as follows:
As many as
twenty (20) students at a period are provided an introduction
to computers. Students have the option of going on to a more advanced
computer course.
Residents
of communities adjacent to the Center will be given access to
the internet using up to 20 computers. The computers are being
obtained from Virginia, Washington D.C., New York and Toronto.
The computers will be located at the Computer Learning Center
within the Multipurpose Center.
Evening
Educational Programme |
Up to five
(5) classes will be taught in the evening. The classes are aimed
at students who dropped out of secondary schools and students
who have not had the opportunity to attend secondary schools with
the hope of obtaining passes in the all important CXC and GCE
examination.
The facilities
at the Center will be available for youths to develop socially,
culturally, educationally and spiritually. So far, three youth
groups are involved namely Crochu Explosive Youths, the Youth
Arm of Saint Vincent De Paul and Youth Vibrations from Pomme Rose.
The library
is currently operational. A five-person committee has been set
up to work with the Grenada Library Association to complete the
organization of the library.
The facility
will also be the host of several other activities including a
gymnasium, karate classes, photo studio, arts and crafts, and
photo copying and faxing for residents in the community.
